Black screen but still works and can hear notifications

I dropped my tablet and the screen turned black. I tried resetting it and turning it on to no avail. I started pressing the volume buttons and managed to take a screenshot and picture. I could even hear notifications. However, I can’t see anything. How can I fix this?

Hi @ababab ,

The fall may have loosened the video cable connection on the motherboard or worse damaged the LCD screen. Screens cannot be repaired, they have to be replaced.

Here’s a link to the ifixit Nexus 7 2nd Generation LCD Screen Assembly Replacement guide. Use the guide to inspect the video cable connection or to replace the screen assembly.

Screen assemblies are available online. Just search for Nexus 7 2nd Gen LCD screen assembly to get results.

Here’s a link to just one supplier of the part. It is shown only to give you an idea of the cost of the part.

Hopefully this is of some help.

Put it in a freezer for 24 hours and it should work fine that’s what I did with mine
