iPad mini won’t stay on after digitiser replacement

I’ve just replaced the digitiser on my son’s iPad mini 2. When I turn it on the Apple logo appears and then the iPad turns itself off.

The only way way to get it to turn on again is to disconnect and then reconnect the battery.

If hold the power button and home button I get the same thing. Apple logo appears but then goes off.

Its not a backlight issue as the logo he logo appears fully backlit before disappearing.

I would recheck everything you did - Looking at the procedure, it seems like it would be really easy to damage the cable or connector while disassembling - also - did you use a new OEM quality part or a used/off brand part? Maybe defective part?

Thanks for the reply.

I’ve double checked everything and can’t see anything obvious.

It’s not an OEM part but could a faulty digitizer cause it to turn off?

Sounds like a bad digitizer. Of all the iPhone and iPad replacement parts out there, the most problematic parts are iPad mini 3 replacement home buttons, iPad mini/Air dock ports and then iPad mini digitizers.

If you long press the top power button after the device boots, as if you were going to slide to power off, this should prompt the display to come up. Hit cancel and then use as normal. The iPad mini smart cover hall effect sensor and therefore power button is routed through the iPad mini digitizer/home button connection. The hall effect sensor lives on the new screen and is often missing/damaged on crappy replacement screens. Crappy replacement screens are the common screens easily available, it is really hard to find a gold bordered original quality mini screen.

If you don’t have display come up after long press then something else is up and you can post back.
