Error use audio3 for dvi connection

Just got the dish hopper but when we turn off & then on there is no sound. Error message please use Audio 3 for DVI connection. If I go through input on Sanyo remote and get back to hdmi1 the sound comes on. What can I do so it will just come on?

Hi @gayleshe ,

Have you tried using either HDMI 2 or HDMI 3 inputs on the TV just to see if the problem does not occur ?

This is a known issue with older model Sanyo TVs when using HDMI connections with certain devices.

The only known way around it is to cycle through the inputs as you are currently doing to get the audio to resume .

If it becomes too annoying does your Dish Hopper model have a Component video output option at all?

If so, you could connect the Dish Hopper to the TV via a Component Video + audio connection, thus avoiding the problem when using the HDMI connection

The connection to video 1 gives us sound but HD is gone & picture doesn’t cover the whole screen like HDMI1. Is this normal or is there a setting I’m missing?

Hi @gayleshe ,

You may have to go into the Dish Hopper's settings menu area and adjust the Aspect Ratio setting to get a full screen picture (should be 16:9) and also the Display Format setting and select something like 720p if 1080p doesn't work.

Looking at the TV settings menu guide, it doesn't give any options to alter the Aspect Ratio or the Resolution setting, but I may be wrong about that and it is in there and you can change it.

If all this doesn't suit you'll just have to put up with scrolling thru the inputs to get the audio back when you use HDMI.
