@chevy283

there is a fuse on the power supply board. Use these guides SONY ZS-BTG900 to get to it. Let us know what you find. You can also post some images of your board with your question so that we can see what you see. Adding images to an existing question

Ah, I figured out how to get to the power supply area. Have to take off the front of it. However, I did take out the power supply and opened it up. There are no fuses inside the power supply. Dead power supply? Don't know. I'm at a dead end now.

@skylineusa post some images of your board PSU etc. with your question so that we can see what you see.

Hi @melvinlew

Not sure but I would check out what the component markings are on the component highlighted in the image below taken from this image of the power board, as sometimes,fuses do come in these sort of packages.

You may be right. I took a photo before putting it all back together, but unfortunately, it's at a poor angle to read the component markings. I'll have to take it all apart again.

Any thoughts on why when I plug it in, there is a faint glow to the backlight, but can't be switched on? Is it still possible for this to happen if the fuse is blown?

Unless there are still batteries installed, then if a mains fuse is blown there's no power available for the device to do anything.

I don't know the device but according to the user manual it seems there can be batteries in there. - see under the "Warning" section.

Yes, let me clarify this.

Plugged into A/C and no batteries installed. The display backlight faintly glows, but nothing works. Cannot power on. It seems like it's on power standby.

A/C unplugged, batteries installed. The display backlight stays totally black, but the entire system turns on when the power button is depressed. No issues at all. On battery power, I don't think there's a power standby, hence the display backlight is totally black.

There is a cable from the battery compartment into the power supply. The power supply then routes to the main board.

(Also, sorry for the confusion on my username. I was playing around with my profile!)

@skylineusa

You may need to do point to point testing of the AC input path (power disconnected, use an Ohmmeter).

Usually the DC from the batteries connects to the same point after the AC has been dropped down to the specified DC voltage (6V? 9V?) and then rectified to DC, so it could be either the transformer or a bridge rectifier stack that is faulty
