Chime and turn on but black screen.

Computer unused for years. trying to being back to life but somethings are not good.

So chime at start up and certain familiar snow leopard sounds as computer boots. Screen is black, no backlight, nothing.

Reset pram etc. no effect.

Any low cost recommendation for diagnosing problem.

First hook it up to an external monitor to see if the GPU is generating a video signal.
