Why wont my elite controller turn on

Why wont my elite controller turn on

My xbox one elite controller does not turn on when I hold the button to turn it on it just stays light and does not turn on I have tryed new batteries noting works could someone help

Hello Chanse. I have the same issue with my controller. I install new batteries, plug in different USB cables, but it doesn't want to power on. This was a replacement controller from Xbox . Sometimes, the guide button will light up a little bit but won't stay on. After a while, the area near the D-pad starts to get hot. I'm assuming that there is something that is causing something like a short or perhaps a surge has fried something on the motherboard?
