Sounds like the Optical light came off the PCB (Printed Chip on Board) from my research this is an ongoing issue with the mouse after being dropped.
-My best bet would be that the light came off the solder joints with - or + connections and causing it not to light and unable to reflect a light to the sensor.
You could try taking the mouse apart by locating all the screws, some may be under the mouse glider pads on bottom of mouse, and pop it open with a spudger prying tool.
Make sure both the LED connectors are seated correctly into the solder joints on
- and + on the PCB.

Thank for the advise I fixed mine after reading this , the pointer sensor was hooked off I just snapped it back into position
Likewise, took it apart, futzed with it, cleaned it up, put it back together, fresh battery, now works fine :)
Mice are not durable. But you could have dialoged one of the boards. You could disassemble and see.

My mouse was dropped, the red light no longer works, but the mouse still does with no issues? WTF is up with that?

i had purchased Logitech M221 silent mouse and realize that the Optic light is not working, but the mouse is working perfectly alright. Hence requested for a replacement and surprised to receive a new mouse again in the same condition. So wondering whether the Optical light will work or not on this model.

Wow! 3 Yrs later dropped mouse again - TBH I have dropped many many times but this time in pieces like 3yrs ago when it wouldn’t work. Followed directions from above:
Dropped mouse now red laser light not working
it worked- thank you!! [It - meaning light didn’t work - dislodged from hit to ground- I used plastic tools that I bought for fixing phone screen-so not to short anything out- I easily pushed a wire and plastic back to where it looked like it should go. ]
works great -with a lil tape also ? Thanks

Sounds like your mouse might have gotten damaged when it dropped, especially since the red laser light isn’t turning on even with a fresh battery. I had a similar thing happen with my wireless mouse once—I dropped it, and the sensor just stopped lighting up, even though the receiver and buttons worked fine. Sometimes the internal components get knocked loose or break, and the light/sensor stops working.
If the mouse still doesn’t respond after changing batteries and trying a reset, it might need repair or replacement. You could try opening it up carefully to check for loose parts, but if you’re not comfortable, getting a new mouse might be the easiest fix.

I had the same issue. I dropped my wireless mouse, and the red laser no longer lit up, even though the buttons and the receiver still functioned. Tried with fresh batteries and resetting, but nothing changed. Eventually, I carefully opened the casing (just one screw), reseated everything, and the light came back on. Looks like the LED or its solder points got a little loose from impact. It was fixed for me with a gentle opening and reseating.

@ repair pug, I did attempt to see if fixable, however there were multiple pieces of plastic, metal and loose circuit boards. Just bought a new one. Thank you for taking time to answer!
