Why does my iPad go black whilst I am playing the word game Lexulous.

When I make a move and confirm this move on Lexulous word game, I normally click the top left hand arrow to go back to the page with the list of games I am playing. The screen is going black for a few hours and I cannot play this scrabble game. What causes this as I have been playing this game for years and it is just doing this
