We really need to know the exact model. If this is a portable player it may have a type of CMOS or PRAM battery that has failed.

They are no batteries in this unit. It is a Magnavox dvd recorder model number ZX352mw8A. I can program the channels into it, then after an hour of being shut down it looses all of the channels. It is not a portable player.
