I've googled and tried doing it, but gmail says the password or email address is incorrect, but it's not. I need my email on my phone but no longer have an iphone. I can access them on my browser on my phone, but cant open them or anything. Every time I need to check my email I have to use my laptop.

Yup that's what I followed, but it says my email or password is incorrect. I've checked multiple times and done everything correctly
This must have been changed at one point. I would suggest changing it again on icloud.com and then using the new password to set it up on your phone. To be safe, also enable a recovery option incase you accidentally lock yourself out.
Password has been the same since I made it. I'll reset it and see if that works
