Charging the phone after getting wet

My phone got wet a few days ago but it worked fine so I payed no attention and used it normally. But yesterday I plugged it in and it didn't charge. I dissassembled it, I cleaned it, I followed every advice I found in the internet but it still didn't work. But now I tried to plug it using pressure and at some point it started charging. I used a rubber band (:P) and I left it in. I wonder however if I should do it or not. Is there any possibility it breaks down or explodes?

@lefterios you didn't tell us how you cleaned it. If not properly cleaned it will continue to corrode and continue to fail. After proper cleaning you must replace the battery. After that re-evaluate what damage you really have. Right now you will only find yourself replacing parts based on guesses.

The battery wasn't the issue it still doesn't charge. Most probably the charging port is damaged.

If inside is clean. I suggest you try replacing your charging port.

The first thing I would try is disassemble and soak the main and sub boards in 99.9% alcohol. Leave for an hour or so then look for any corrosion and scrub gently with a soft toothbrush. Allow it to dry thoroughly and reassemble.

I doubt the battery is damaged.
