How to replace thermostat housing?

I have a 2009 Jaguar XF and I went to replace thermostat and when I removed I noticed a piece was broke in the housing.

I'm also having the same issue with my 2009 Jaguar XF Luxury. Its a 4.2L no Supercharger. When I took the thermostat out I noticed it was broken on the inside were the thermostat slides Into. Is there a guide for the replacement of that part? Thank you.

@mikesmith2005 since we do not know where and how it is broken nor do we know what engine size this is, use the coolant part from the workshop manual and see if that will help you out.
