Could be a few reasons..

Can you boot into recovery mode at all? Power button, Volume up + Home at the same time

Could be bad battery or corrupt firmware.

Usually a firmware flash fixes it, it not factory reset. Then if it still doesn't work after that I would pretty much call it a paperweight.

Same thing happened to mine. On the Samsung community forum, it looks like several people are suddenly getting this same issues almost exactly 4 years after they purchased it.

There doesn't seem to be a fix for it that I can find.
