The Pontiac Grand Am is a mid-size size (and later compact) car produced by Pontiac. The 1999-2005 generation is the final generation of the Pontiac Grand Am.

Horn button under airbag is depressed.

The horn kept on going one day so I took out the fuse. Bought a new one and it did the same thing. And the last thing I can think of is the horn button being stuck down. What do I buy and how do I replace the horn button under my steering wheel under the air bag.

I have this same problem. I've replaced the fuse in the fuse box, I've replaced the clock spring. My mechanic says the horn pad needs to be replaced (this one has had it). My problem is that GM does not make the horn pad for this car anymore. How do I find preferably a Genuine GM horn pad, if not an adequate replacement part.

Hi,

When you say that you took out the fuse, did you mean Fuse #43 in the engine bay fuse block?

Have you tried replacing the Horn relay (Relay #21) in the engine bay fuse block, with a similar relay found in the fuse block (if there is one) to prove that the relay is not the problem, instead of the horn button.

Here is an image of the engine bay fuse block taken from this website showing the location of the horn relay (red) and the horn fuse (purple)

I did take out that horn relay under the hood, I did not know a broken horn relay could cause the horn to honk continuously. I will buy another relay and see if that fixes it.

Hi,

Did you try swapping in another similar relay from the fuse block into the horn relay position to see if it stopped the horn sounding all the time? Save you the cost of a new one if it isn't the relay that is the problem

I have the same problem. it is the switch membrane or "horn switch" The membranes are stuck together. It is part of the air bag module.
