Bose SoundDock Portable charging issue

I got this speaker quite a few years back and have always loved it. I never bought any adapters or anything for the docking station so it still has the original really old iphone docking port on it. I now have an iphone 6s plus which wont fit obviously so for a long time now i've just been using the aux cord to play music off my iphone with it doesn't really bother or inconvienance me. I also lost the remote in the midst of the several times ive moved in the past few years so i have been using the manual volume controls on the side of the speaker for quite a while as well.

So recently when I've gone to charge the speaker itself (as the blinking red light indicates it needs recharging) it has been not charging at all when I connect it to the charger or either it beeps on and off several times like its detecting connection to the power source and is going to charge but then beeps again as if it disconnects or is unplugged even though im not touching it at all and then usually after a few times of beeping it just totally stops charging and wont respond when i plug it in to the back of the bose at all. Ive looked all over the internet but cant really seem to find this exact issue. I really love this speaker and it wasn't very cheap so i really hope that this is a simple fix. Please help if possible.

I've had this problem happen a couple of times over the course of the few years I've owned it and replacing the battery has worked. I'm going to do a teardown of the battery and determine the failure point as these batteries aren't necessarily cheap.

@alp1 before anything else and really tearing into this, I'd start with replacing the battery. It is easily possible that he battery is depleted. Use this guide Bose SoundDock Portable v2 Battery Replacement for that.

Hello, the beep mean: replace the battery. I have 2 Sounddock portable and I test it today. You can remove the battery and use it only with the AC adapter. No beeps if you use it like this. Today I will open the battery to have a lock. perhaps I can repair it, changing some cells?

It could be a broken/damaged charging port. I would recommend replacing the charging port as a start.

I purchased the BMR A2DP Bluetooth 4.1 Music Receiver Adapter for Bose SoundDock, iPhone from Amazon. That solves the problem of having your phone tethered to the aux cord. It also solves the need for a remote. Between the volume control on the sounddock and the volume control on the iPhone you can fine tune the volume from your phone as well as change playlists without a remote. You probably need to replace the battery. Try pcadaptershop.com that’s where I got mine.

Hey, Your battery's dead. You could source an aftermarket battery for like 50 $ but they come with a higher mAh.

This poses no problem although sometimes it could charge with no light showing on the device since it is programmed to show Green, orange and red on varying battery levels and the higher capacity of the battery confuses the algorithm

I'm a transmission mechanic by the way, so second part of the above answer is an educated guess
