My tv has white small white lines covering the whole screen. We have tried rebooting the cable box but that is not it. It is a Samsung plasma from 2009

@oldturkey03 @jayeff we tried switching cable box cords and that didn't work. Then we tried hooking up another tv and the lines were still showing up on that tv then we switched the tv's back and it started working again normally. So I'm unsure of the issue but glad it's working again. Thank you both for your help in trying to resolve the unknown mystery lol!

Have you tried different signal source inputs (and input types, HDMI, Co-Ax, AV etc) to see if it occurs?
Does it happen when you go into the TV's menu options screen

@jayeff the only other source we have is cable and that just has the regular static of a tv and then of which just goes all black without the lines. We currently use the HDMI source. When go to menu the bar with options is solid black with the lines not running through it

Have you tried all 4 HDMI inputs?
Have you tried a different HDMI cable?
Switch off the TV and the cable box before you remove/insert the HDMI cable
What output options are available from the cable box besides HDMI? Composite TV (red/white/yellow RCA plugs) or component TV (red/blue/green + red/white) hopefully.
