What is causing distored image on new replacement screen for HS Tablet

I have a Hipstreet i8 tablet. It was dropped which broke the lcd display. I purchased a replacement from aliexpress but upon installation the display image was all distorted: predominantly pink and blue colors, and the image has was split into to vertical sides with one more white then the other. Everything else worked including applications. I reset the device with no help. I then purchased another display this time an original for the device, but with the exact same issue. I have cleaned and checked all ribbon cables.

What could be causing this issue? Has the display chip been damaged? Is it fixable or should this tablet become a coaster? Many thanks
