Apple TV 3rd Gen green screen then black screen

My TV has worked fine for a couple of years. The other night I "rewound" a movie I was watching and started getting parts of a green screen. Did it again and when I go to play I get a total green screen. Next day, I get black screen when I go to play a movie but I get sound and subtitles. The normal menu screen appears fine and I can navigate normally. It is only when I try to play something that it fails. If this were a Mac, I'd say the GPU has failed but I don't know that much about an Apple TV. Any suggestions?

BYW I hooked up my other identical Apple TV 3rd gen to my set up and it works fine.

@entendu Dom, I could not find the Apple TV in the device directory. It might really help if you could search for a device by name.

@captainsnowball Yes that is a discussion of the problem but no resolution. Thanks for looking though.
