Disc Image export for hard drive replacement

Want to replace hard drive with SSD . need to export OS 10 and data that on hard drive , than import back after replace to SSD.

There are a few ways to do this.

That article from apple pretty much sums it up.

You can make a time machine backup of the old HD, and then restore from that. This is probably the easiest way.

You can also use a SATA to USB adapter to connect the old HD, and then use migration assistant to transfer the content.

I always use Carbon Copy Cloner for swapping/cloning drives because it is so much faster than Time Machine. Absolutely everything is mirrored to the external drive and you can test the external drive before pulling your machine apart.
