Is it possible to get data off the chipset?

A client of mine is asking if there is anyway he can retrieve the files from his broken walkman I've already ordered a new cord to determine if that's the issue. But if that doesn't work is there a way to pull the data straight from the memory?

@shanemkelley no there is not unless you have a NAND reader and other expensive data recovery equipment. Definitely not for any DIY'er or small shop. The only way to get the data off is if you can get it to turn on.
