Sharp alarm clock snooze issue

Brand new Sharp alarm clock has an issue. When I press Snooze, the display flips to flashing 18:88 a few time then it changes to flashing 12:00. What's wrong?

Thank you.

Thank you for your response. We did decide to just pack it back up and will replace it with a different clock altogether.

Have a wonderful day, Philip Le Riche.

It sounds like it's resetting - is that the same as what it does when you first insert the battery? It could be a solder bridge between two circuit board tracks.

But if it's brand new, don't mess with it - just take it straight back and get a refund or replacement. Fixing it would undoubtedly be fascinating, instructive and highly satisfying, but if you don't succeed you'll probably void the warranty.
