Refrigerator leaking onto floor.

We have RF267AERS french door samsung refrigerator. The ice maker has not worker for about a year. However yesterday I went into the kitchen and the was water surrounding the the fridge. When I opened the door the water seemed to be coming from the ice maker.

I tried the fix in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXL2sDGF... but that did not work. I am not sure what to do next. We can't afford a new fridge or repairman and the store cancelled our warranty when they could not fix our ice maker. Any suggestions would be great.

How do I disassemble the door on a this refrigerator to replace the hose inside the door? It is leaking between the dispenser and the hinge. Water comes up through the hinge when filling a glass. Thank you in advance! I have the ice/Water dispenser unit removed.

Hi Lauren,

For now, just disconnect the water line that is going into the fridge so that it stops the water leak. Make sure the inline valve is off before disconnecting it, otherwise you'll have a lot more of a mess to deal with.

Well that stops the leak but doesn't fix the problem. What are you going to do about the defrost condensation water?

Cause 1

Clogged or Freezing Defrost Drain

If the defrost drain is frozen, the water will overflow the drain trough and drip down to the bottom of the compartment. This water can eventually leak onto the floor. Check the defrost drain to determine if it is clogged or frozen. If the defrost drain is frozen, thaw the ice. In addition, flush the drain with hot water to ensure that it is clear of debris. You can use a hair dryer to do this.

Cause 2

Water Tank Assembly

Inspect the water tank assembly for any leaks. Be aware that the leak may be very small and hard to find. If you discover a leak, replace the water tank. Do not attempt to repair the water tank—glue will not stick properly to the plastic of the tank.

Cause 3

Water Inlet Valve

The water inlet valve opens to supply water to the dispenser and icemaker. If the water inlet valve is cracked or has a loose fitting, water will leak from the valve. Inspect the water inlet valve for cracks, and make sure that it is tightly secured to the water supply line.
