Temp gauge sometimes reads full scale

Mitsubishi Cedia 2002

Temp gauge intermittently runs to full scale but water not boiling?

Have heard there are 2 sensors on this model Can only find one at this stage

Hi,

If the sensor you found has only 1 wire connected chances are that it is the temp gauge sensor. You could prove this by disconnecting the wire from the sensor and then connecting it to earth. Switch the ignition to ON and see if the temp gauge registers full scale.
