2010 ford f150 radiator fan stays on

Had same problem with my 2014 F150. Solved the problem today. Long story short never add Freon yourself with one of those do it yourself cans from the parts house. I did it and allowed moisture to get in my system and slightly overfilled as well. Turns out the computer in fords senses this and as a safety feature tells your high speed fan to kick on.

I took to a shop that properly removed my Freon then ran a vacuum to get moisture out, them filled to proper level.

Seen this on a few other forums. We had done everything we could think of. Replaced water pump, flushed coolant system and had serviced, replaced the ac sensor that one guys said worked for him, nothing seemed to work. Had another problem pop up and suggested fix for that was replacing fuse #27 under the hood. Pulled out fuse #27 and it was burnt on one end but not broken. Replaced it and haven’t had the loud jet engine fan noise in 2 weeks, even with warmer weather the past three days. Good luck!

I had the same problem with the fan running continuously even on cold days. I had a very good mechanic that I work with put his computer on my truck to diagnose it. It said my air conditioning line was putting out 496 pounds. He said it's my air pressure sensor that's is causing issue. When we unplugged it the fan turned off. I'm going to get the part tomorrow. None of the auto parts places had it so I have to get it from the Ford dealership. It's about $30.00. I'm hoping this solves my problem on my 2014 F-150 with the 5.0. It's an easy fix. Unplug the wire, unscrew the valve and replace.

Had this issue with my 2015 Super-Crew 5.0 liter F150.I first observed the temperature indicator appeared to be in its normal temperature range during summer driving in New Mexico. I shutoff my A/C while the engine was still running, and within 45 seconds the obnoxiously loud, high flow fan shutoff. I shut the engine off for 30 minutes (resetting the computers and sensors). I started the vehicle and let run for 30 minutes, in that time not once did the high flow fan turn on. By segregating the A/C from the rest of the cooling system, I was able to see if the high flow fan was turning on due to the A/C or something else in the cooling system.

I have the equipment and experience to evacuate the refrigerant, contaminants, check for leaks and recharge the A/C. Many people do not and I strongly recommend you have an A/C certified professional do this work. This ensure the A/C system is properly, cleaned out, leak checked and recharged. Pressure verification and contaminant removal prevents an over pressure (or fluctuating pressure) situation as the contaminants can see the 3 states of matter due to the low and high temperatures created during the refrigerant compression cycle. Lastly, most contaminants are injected into the system due to the person recharging not properly cleaning the recharge fitting (Schrader Valve) free of contamination before recharging)

There are essentially 3 cooling interlocks in the F-150 system, and they are interpreted by the trucks software in the following priority

• A/C High pressure sensor/switch (this is # 1 due to the system containing a gas/liquid vapor refrigerant that is compressed to create heat exchange. Pressure increases with increasing temperature, as well as contaminants in the system can create explosive pressures in this system
• Left and Right cylinder head (engine) temperature switches
• Coolant water temperature sensor

My fan only comes on when the heater is turned on and then my ac pump gets noisy. Any ideas? 2012 f150 5L

2012 fx4 had same problem. After market thermostat 190 deg. Replaced it with 160 deg and high fan issue is gone.

I bet you put green anti freeze back in your truck,, put the recommended Motorcraft Orange anti freeze in it and problem solved

2012 f150 5.0l 80k. Changed water pump,Tstat,and fushed system.

After, the air boat sound started.

Tried A/C switch, relay replacement,

4 different brands higher end Tstats.

Final fix ended up being the motorcraft OEM Tstat.

I also have a 2012 F150 with the 5.0V8. Had the water pump and thermostat replaced as the water pump was starting to leak, and when I got it back I also experienced the radiator fans kicking into high. My truck has never done this before so I knew something wasn’t right. I reached out to the mechanic and he verified that he did not use an OEM thermostat. I brought it back in and he replaced it with a motocraft thermostat and my truck is back to normal. Hope this helps someone else experiencing this issue after replacing their t-stat.

What I found to be the issue was the aftermarket Tstat. Poor fluid flow. Once I replaced the tstat went away… for a while. When it’s super hot out, comes on as I think the pressures are off in the A/C. Apparently, expansion valve gets something in it and causes pressure to sky rocket. But, if it’s super cold out, that should not be the issue. Can also be the A/C switch malfunctioning? It’s ridiculous Ford doesn’t have more on this as this is a constant issue with F150.

Replace thermostat with an OEM FORD unit. Worked for me.

I replaced my thermostat with a non oem one then swapped it out again for one from Ford but my fans still run high and stay on if I use my heat or ac any ideas? My ac clutch is starting to go if that effects this at all any help would be great maybe just recharge my ac?

2012 Ford f150 fan running constantly and very loud only when ac is on and not very cold when it's on soon as I turn it off fan goes off a couple seconds later it's been very hot here in Tennessee I have 3 kids babies so I keep it running constantly when we are in the car husband tried freon nope still doing it he's a mechanic said it could be a few different things causing it but I really would like to just figure it out before him going thru the list it gets expensive buying parts we don't actually need anyone find out why it's doing this it's never done it before he did have to add about a gallon or more of water lat week it was very low that's when this started sometimes the fan will blow cool other days like today it won't just warm air but only on ac not max ac that one blows hot I'm going to try what one suggested and get antifreeze as that's what it needs instead of water it could be low again or like one said it's not reading that it's low it didn't read when he added the water last week either so maybe it's still low and doing this or the fuse but if anyone else has this exact same thing happing to theirs and found the problem please lete know thank you in advance momof3
