iFixit Battery replacement works until 25% battery life

Replacing the battery was no small task but went well.

I followed the directions of letting the battery discharge, then charge to 100% then discharge and charge to 100% again, then continue with normal use.

However, that normal use will get me to 25% remaining life and then the laptop will shut itself down.

I have reset both the SMC and the NVRAM.

Laptop seems to function fine other than that.

Have you checked it with a dedicated battery program like Coconut Battery

I have not used that specific app (I have been using Battery Monitor and Battery Health from the App Store), but if I must here is a screen shot: https://ibb.co/cq0qG5

As you can see nothing out of the ordinary like I stated. I don't get a warning from the machine with my settings set to 5% to alert me of low battery because the laptop shows it is at 25% still.

Same issue here again. Mine worked for a couple of charges and then it went back to 10%. I asked for an exchange.

Yes, my exchanged battery now goes down to around 3% before powering off. I am good with that.

Return the battery, it is faulty if you have tried resetting the SMC and NVRAM.

Finally got through doing tests the team at iFixit wanted me to do. They are sending me a replacement battery to try again.

OK, I just got a new battery from ifixit and got the same problem but it was turning off at 30%..

I was able to solve it by cycling the battery. Is annoying but it works:

-Fully charge the battery and leave it connected and charged overnight.

-Then use the laptop until it runs out and turns off by itself. Leave it discharged for about 4-5 hours or more.

-To verify if the trick works, pressthe Power button and make sure you see the "Connect to the power" symbol.

-Then fully charge it again.

After cycling my battery capacity dropped a bit, but at least now is accurate. I recommend doing coconut battery monitor.

Glad to hear your issue is sorted out. I did your suggestion a day ago when I found this site: http://www.newertech.com/batteries/power...

The laptop will now get to 9% battery before it kicks off so it is better than my original 25%. But still not acceptable. I am working with the iFixit team now and doing what they suggest.

Do it once again. I had to do it again to get it perfect. Now it turns off at <5%. I might need to do it a third time.

Have done it several times. Still no luck, it actually went back up to 15% and would shut down.
