iPod touch slammed on table, now unresponsive

My son slammed his ipod touch down on a table, backplate first last night. It now will not turn on or charge or anything. He said the screen briefly turned white. It was plugged in all night to a wall charger to no avail. The screen does not appear to be cracked, and I cannot hear the audible click that indicates it's charging. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Update:

When plugged into a computer, it shows up in iTunes and allows me to see everything on it. Any ideas??

So, do you try to restore it? (make a backup before because by restoring your iPod, you will lose all data in it).

Sheatwole03,

If the restore doesn't work then the LCD could have either come unplugged or been damaged by the shock. Find a seller that takes returns, purchase an OEM LCD and go through the display replacement guide to install it. Also let us know how you do so we can all learn from it.

I successfully restored it, but it did not fix the problem. After disassembling the iPod, I noticed a very thin crack running horizontally across the screen. I'm not sure why this would cause it not to display (as is the case with spidercracks, often times) but I will go ahead and replace the screen and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestions!
