I have an Apple iBook, it has a problem that when I switch it on, it boots, but it starts to display different colors on the screen and can't display the desk top files.
What could be the problem??

It sounds like a problem with the video. Does it change at all when you move the lid? One test would be to try using an external monitor. If that works then the problem is likely the video cable or the display controller built into the LCD panel.
I had a MacBook Air once where the hinge cracked and cut into the video cable which ran nearby. It would only show blue colors. But it worked with an external display.
