iPod went through wash, has a white screen.

Hi,

I put my daughter's iPod through the wash, and when discovered let it dry for a day, then tried to see if it would work. It turns on, but there is only a white screen with the apple logo. It's non-responsive and doesn't register on my Mac or iTunes when I plug it in. Is it fixable?

Placing it in rice won't work, as this was a few years ago. I took it to apple and they wanted to charge me $80 which I didn't have at the time. Just wondering if it's worth trying to fix it myself?

Thanks

I don’t really know much about the little suckers but from my friend that works on them said they are an absolute bloody pain in the butt to work on and it might cost $80 or more to fix it yourself so you could try but it is very difficult
