I dropped it and the screen is cracked.

Will that cause it not to work? It will power on but I can't see anything

Ok thank you very much for your help. I thought when there is no display on the screen it meant the LCD was broken is this true?

@shirleyb that is correct. I’ve seen more Galaxy’s with broken LCD than screens, usually a bit easier to spot the damage after wiping the screen and using a flashlight.

@shirleyb , sorry to hear about your phone. The phone most likely powers on and will function normally but when the screen is damaged it will not display anything.
