This is what the manual says about the removal

ALTERNATOR REMOVAL

Remove the left engine side cover (page 2-5).

Remove the fuel tank (page 5-56).

Disconnect the alternator 4P connector.

Pull the rubber cap off the alternator terminal, remove the nut and disconnect the alternator cable.

Remove the three mounting bolts and the alternator.

Remove the O-ring from the alternator.
