Why is my gear fit 2 not registering any steps?

My Samsung gear fit 2 has not registered any steps throughout the day so far and I have been very active. However, despite not counting any steps it shows I have burnt 756kcals and climbed 3 floors. I've tried turning it on and off I've also tried to re-sync it to my phone but nothing. Anyone know how to fix it?
