Why is my break light staying on?
Why is my dashboard break light staying on when I'm driving? I've checked my break pads and they're pretty new.

christy, it means one or more of the following, the brake fluid is low, the parking brake lever is either up or the circuit for the parking brake switch is shorted, or if the battery light is also on, the car needs a new alternator. Also check your rear brake lights and make sure they are all functioning. Since we are talking brakes here,you should have a mechanic check it out for you. Hope this helps a bit and good luck to you.

A little more information would help. Is it on when the car is off? Is it dim or bright? Do you get a dashboard brake indicator?

Your external brake lights are on or the internal (dash) brake warning light stays on? like mayer said, we need more info please.
