Wi-Fi not Working (says no Wi-Fi in settings)

Hello,

I just dropped my iPod, in water, and everything is working fine, except for the Wi-Fi board. I think that water got into the antenna slot on the back, and shorted out the antenna, or the port. In settings, it just says "No Wi-Fi". Is there an antenna or something I could buy, or something I could try to fix this? I have had this device for almost four years and do not want to buy another one.

Thanks!

sgtthompspn10, you might want to try this first. Some people have had issues with it like you are and found that this worked. At least its a try before you have to replace any parts.

1st - Goto Settings > General > Safari : and erase History, cookies and cache

Then, goto Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Just as Chris Green mentioned in the first answer.

if none of these have worked for you

-reset network

-changing DNS

-factory reset

then try to instead of hitting the name of your network, in the settings... go to Other. Then type in the name of your network... for security click on WEP.

Of course you could also try to restore your ipod as well. Here is another way to attempt to reconnect. http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/show...

Here is some more info http://discussions.info.apple.com/messag... and http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/ipod-ha...

Of course these are just attempts to fix it, if it is software related. If none of these works you will have to open it up and make sure that all cables are connected. I believe that The wifi antenna is a part of the mainboard, so you would have to replace the entire board to replace the wifi. Good luck and let us know.

Try going to Settings>General>Reset, and select "Reset Network Settings" This should fix it if it is a software-based problem. If this doesn't work, then it is a hardware based problem, and you will need to replace the logic board. (The communications board is attatched to the logic board)

Hello,

Thanks for all of your help! I restored it, and reset it in Settings. However, I noticed that the battery is not taking a charge :( Well, looks like I will have to solder in a new battery:)

Thanks for all of your help!
