Is my wifi network adapter broken?

Hello,

I am running Windows 10 on my HP Stream 11. It's a discontinued model.

I can't connect at home or at work to the Internet. Windows Troubleshooting resets the network adapter and that works about 75% of the time. Drivers are up to date. Nothing wrong with any of the access points I am using. Other devices can connect to them.

Is the network adapter soldered onboard with this model?

Any thoughts? Thank you.

No the wireless module is not soldered to the board in ifixits hand dandy teardown you can see the wireless module:

Try checking that it is seated correctly in it's little port there, also make sure the antenna is connected properly.

But before that, try uninstalling the drivers and then reinstalling them, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED THE DRIVER BEFORE YOU UNINSTALL IT!

If that doesn't work you can always just buy a USB wireless "Dongle" although not a real solution to your problem, it bypasses the possibly defective wireless module.

Let me know how you get on.
