How do I make it stitch? the peal works, the needle moves, no stitches

and yes, i threaded the needle, and it is all looking fine, but when i try to sew, nothing stays. the needle goes in and out and the thread trails uselessly behind.

is there anything to do about this?

this machine does not have a bobbin. it also came with no instruction manual.
