Solution for iPhone SE front camera not working

Hello everyone and iFixit team I'm making this post so everyone can see the mistake every supplier is doing and making techs not able to solve the front camera recording or talking to Siri after replacing the front camera proximity cable.

All the SE front camera proximity sensor everyone has been buying are 5s is not the same! The front camera will work proximity sensor will work and receiver will work but the microphone is different. Take a look at the picture 5s is on the left and SE original on the right this is why is static or mute while recording from the front camera or Siri not listening.

iFixit team tested so you can believe me.

@luke @kyle Please notice this and change the product from the website to 5s only

I haven't run into this yet with the front camera but I'll definitely be looking out for it in the future, thank you!

Interesting, but sometimes Apple makes small upgrades to their products within the same model. Such as with 'early-2011' MBP or the 'old-bootloader' iPhone 3G. Are you sure that this isn't just a minor upgrade leaving earlier iPhone 5s models with a different microphone than older iPhone 5s models as well as the SE model?

@mayer , it is a little older but, should something like this go to Meta?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@lpfaff1 It will get lost there. I think it should be attached to the guide. Maybe @kelsea could do that better than us trying to move it around.

OK, will leave in @kelsea hands, thanks mayer.

i can confirm this is the truth . the SE and 5S are not the same . if you put a 5S front camera flex cable on an SE, you will indeed have only static noise on front video of the SE.

Hello everyone. I wrote an article about this issue. It’s in french but it’s possible to google translate it, and the pictures show what the difference is between an iPhone 5S microphone and an iPhone SE microphone. I hope it can help :
