skills-dev , Sorry to hear about the problems about your watch, I have notice in a lot of forums persons having quality issues with Fitbit, especially the strap. You may want to voice your complaint with fitbit and see if there is something they would be willing to do to compensate, 2nd link fitbit customer service contact.
You can try removing the battery, clean the contacts and reinstall or replace with new battery to reset the watch Link 1st link below is a guide to show battery removal. Good luck.
