Can it be hooked to a hard drive
I want to hook a external hard drive to the next book will it let me do this

There are a couple of issues here: connectivity & power.
The Nextbook needs to provide enough power for whatever device you connect. Simplest test for this is to use a USB flash drive since they require little power. For a larger device, be sure the Nextbook is plugged in charging mode to provide the most power.

Best way to find out is to just try it. Connect a USB drive, power up and see if it recognizes it.
