My tablet bricked and freezes at unlock bootloader

I was wondering since my Nexus 7 2nd edition will not let me try to unlock the bootloader with Nexus Root Toolkit because it gets to the unlock bootloader and freezes if I replaced my motherboard would that potentially fix the issue? Or can another hardware part be bought to fix this or do I have a fancy paperweight now?

changing the motherboard is basically buying a new tablet. the part that the os is on that is most likely keeping you from doing anything though is the storage or hard drive. that is the hardware component that holds your os and all of your apps. I hope that this helps and that you no longer have a fancy paperweight
