Is there any specific compatibility problems with replacing the HDD?

I recently acquired a PowerBook G4 17" M9689LL/A, A1107 to repair.

From past experience with the device I know the HDD in it has gone and ideally needs replacing. I keep hearing reports from people that it will only accept certain makes and models of HDD. I was wondering if anybody knew if there was any truth behind these rumours, or if I could put any 2.5" IDE HDD in to it.

You can put in any IDE/PATA HDD inside. There would be no reason why it wouldn't work.
