Can I bypass a "Scanner Failure" error?

Our AIO printer (Deskjet F4480) is giving me a scanner failure, and it is preventing me printing. I don't really use the scanner often, so instead of purchasing a new device to print, is there a way to disable or bypass this error so I can print?
