How on earth do I reconnect the P9 ribbon cable?

I have tried it a million times! I cannot for the life of me figure out how the ribbon cable goes back into the connector on the motherboard! What am I missing? All of the YouTube videos I have watched have effortlessly slid it into place, but it almost feels like a wall has been erected in the slot the cable is supposed to enter into! Has anyone experienced anything similar? Any advice on what I am missing?

( The P9 is either for the camera or the speakers if that helps to identify it)

Is the connector ZIF (zero insertion force) or LIF (low insertion force)? ZIF connectors have a latch that you lift before you pull a cable out. You can remove a cable from a ZIF without opening the latch but it is better to open the latch before removing ribbon cable. LIF connectors do not have a latch, the cable is pushed in and held by friction of the connector.

Had the same problem. It's very difficult to get the cable back in with the ds closed as the cable will be fighting you the whole way. If you open the top screen the cable lines itself up better and goes right in.

This definitely makes it easier to put the cable back into the latch

Open the latch and stick the ribbon under the latch.
