Replace keyboard with a backlit keyboard e.g. from MBP

Has anyone tried or has suggestions to replace the non- backlit keyboard with a backlit keyboard, like from a MacBook Pro? I know they do not have the same layout (power- button), but wouldn't it be possible to add only the led-layer or something like that?

sorry but I think it would be impossible. the macbook air is so thin that it wouldnt allow the tiny exta space for lights. also there is no keys for dimming or brightening the keyboard, and trying to get a pro keyboard to an air wouldn't be possible because the keys on the air are already cut out of the aluminum body

Agreeing with Nicolas, on top of size restraints the keyboards are drastically different. In addition to the lack of buttons to correspond visually with the brightness up/down on the keyboard, that functionality is actually a function of the USB chip in the top case of the MBP. Also, your MacBook Air has a certain important button on the top right of your keyboard that the Pro doesn't have.
