Why is there a permanent black spot on my screen?
A portion of my screen is always black, I can't see what's behind it and I can't brush it off.

If it looks like a smudge, chances are it could be the LCD or the screen.

The problem sounds like a "dead" pixel or a group of dead pixels. Your display may have been damaged somehow. You can replace the screen using this guide.

Its very possible your backlight could be going. Have you had this phone repaired?
