Why does my router overheat after a short period of time?

After using the router for a prolonged period of time, the device begins to overheat, and feel hot.

As outlined in the troubleshooting page for this device, you may be running at too high of a speed for the type of cut you're attempting to do. You could buy an adapter to allow you to change the speed such as this one http://www.harborfreight.com/router-spee... , or you could try making multiple shallow cuts so that your router doesn't have to work as hard. There are other possible causes of your problem though so I highly suggest visiting the troubleshooting page if you haven't all ready. There should be more solutions there.
