Multiple Keys Working After Keyboard Replacement
Macbook Retina 12 A1534
Hi,
I have replace a couple of keyboards recently on the 12" Retina, and the customers have got back to me to say sometimes pressing one key will cause another key to work (for example, pressing the "N" key triggers the "/" key).
I am not to sure why this is, and have asked them to return this under warranty. The keyboard was tested and working fine before and after fitting, and they have only received it in the past couple of days, so I doubt it is liquid damaged.
Anyone else experienced this issue before? The keyboards for this model seem genuine, so I am not sure why this is happening. Thanks.

Would you give us a link to your keyboard source?

Sure here is one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121767216513?_... the other I got from my supplier in China. They both looked the same (same backing, etc), but are from different sources which is why this is confusing. Thanks for your help.

Any ideas what could cause this?

Did you ever find the cause of this? I am having the same exact issue, happened with two different new, seemingly good quality keyboards

It was the keyboard backing as I suspected; when removing it on liquid damaged A1534 models, the black paint regularly sticks to the keyboard, leaving the silver foil exposed on the backing. This shorts the exposed test points on the back of a key to another test point, when the key is pressed (triggering another key).
If I reuse the original backing on these models, I kapton tape the exposed foil areas if there are any, no issues. Usually I just get new backings now though; they weren't available a couple of years ago so you had to reuse the original one back then
