I selected the wash cycle and my washer just started to fill and then it shut off and there is power going to the washer but it will not turn on and I do not know what the problem is with it?

ken. possible the lid switch could be faulty, faulty timer,etc, also check all wires and connectors at timer switch/main control and motor. If you are not comfortable disassembling machine and testing components have a good appliance technician have a look, diagnose and estimate repair.
