our keurig only drips coffee when the pod is in, we take it out & run it & the water comes out just fine. Why isn't it working with the coffee pod in it?

Bernie Wagnild start off by cleaning the upper and lower puncture needles and the openings next to those. If after that you still have the same issue it could be an issue with scale buildup and the Keurig not having another water pressure to force it through the K-cups. Check this guide to see if you can get it cleaned.
