Should be a pretty simple fix. This for sure sounds like just a software issue, so we can get that fixed in a matter of minutes.
Plug your ipad into your computer. Hold down power for 5 seconds, then press and hold the home button while continuing to hold down power. Hold them both down for 15 seconds (so we are now up to 20 seconds) until iTunes detects the iPad. This time select "restore" ipad. This will wipe it and start fresh.
