Few questions on the speakers:
1. What is the pin out for the four wires from each of the built-in speakers connecting to the logic board?
2. Where is the 17 watts amplifier powering the speakers, is it on the logic board or contained in the speaker units? In other words, can I hook up those speakers to an external source and have audio play through them at native volume levels?

About speaker, sorry that it can not support the original iMAC speakers . As it can not provide enough power. But it can support the 5W 8ohm speaker instead. Will this give you the answer?

I was hoping to do repurpose the speakers in a 2013 iMac. they were redesigned from these models; any chance you have the pinout info for those versions? it would be tremendously helpful! Thanks in advance!

@ant3 I apologize for the delay, I didn't get a notification and only checked back now. I'm new to this kind of project, so please forgive my ignorance of others the terminology and the process. The bottom line is that I decided to upgrade from my 2013 27" iMac, but wanted to try to undertake the process of converting it into an external display. Fortunately there are plenty of kits available for that, and I found one for my specific panel with little trouble. However, I started wondering what else could be repurposed, such as the speakers and even the webcam. Anyway I know each speaker has six pins, and I still have the logic board, but I haven't tried tracing those pins to see what they correspond to yet. I'm not familiar with Crossover PCBs, but I'm assuming it would be a board that connects to these two speakers and translates the audio signal from a normal audio output into something that the speakers understand? Similar to the kit I purchased for the LCD display itself? Thanks in advance!

Searching for "K62 mlb" on google gives the iMac 27" main logic board's schematic diagrams. Finding any pinout from that is pretty straightforward.

I bought these 8 ohm/5W speakers on ebay, since the seller of the LCD controller board said they would work.
I plugged in and they did NOT work.
I checked the pinout and then swapped the black and read wires and plugged in and they did NOT work.

What type of cable are you connecting to the board? I mean hdmi, dvi, vga or any other. I just ask this because dvi, for example, doesnt give you any sound output :/
